Mtnman is right, if you were born after '49 it's a Colorado requirement to hunt in the state. They will usually accept proof of hunter's education from most other states (and other countries). Doesn't seem that expired licenses fits the bill, but you should call to make sure.

Note: If you have a valid hunter education card/certificate from another state, and it can be verified, it will be honored in Colorado. Certifications from other countries may also be accepted. For more about this, see the "Proving HE Course Completion" section of the HE Card Replacement Page.
I recommend calling DOW (see Mtnman's link) to get the full scoop. but I suspect you'll have to take the course.
