I just got my form 1 for an MP5 SBR (semi auto) back from Terry Maketa, thought I'd share my experience.
Got my photos and fingerprints taken by Chapter One on Pikes Peak (across from post office) $9 for photos, $16 for fingerprints, they stock the FBI fingerprint form you need.
Took the Form 1 and fingerprints to the sheriff, got it back in about 2 days.
Not sure why the sheriff wanted to see the fingerprints too, but they did, FYI they don't do fingerprints at the sheriff office, CSPD fingerprint tech had never heard of the FBI fingerprint form when I called and asked.
If you have questions call the main # at the sheriff's office and ask for Jane Frohm.
Now for the long wait with the ATF.

ops:  The cards need a specific ORI on them or ATF WILL REFUSE to use them. And guess what, they wont tell you in most cases. You'll have to call after waiting 6 months then find out. Better call your examiner ASAP and find out what you'll need to do. Also, the fingerprints MUST be done by a law enforcement agency and be certified by the person taking them. CSPD does do this. There's a fee, but you bring the cards you got from ATF. I know Teller County does fingerprints for a fee also. Karl.
