I have not heard anything of the sort.

EDIT: to add I called The Gun Room and they said that is BS. I figured as much but thought I would check.

EDIT: once more to post this link to ATF's web site showing what state permits qualify for exemption to the NCIC check. CO is not one of them.

Per further posts on Glocktalk it sounds like it is indeed not true.

at one time a ccw holder was exempt from a background check. which is one more reason we procurred CCW's.
it was something that didn't last long. but we made the most of it.

Years ago I bought a pistol from Long`s Drugs and he said my permit was all he needed, but that didn`t last long.

I think because the permit is renewed every four years, and they want a more current background check, like for restraining orders and the like.

    Or I could be wrong

years ago. i have no idea exactly when but that was one of the reason's for getting the CCW. present the CCW at the time of purchase and it was in & out in about 5 min.
    i've held a CCW since late 92

Not to rain on your parade but that is impossible! I too have had a ccw long before the new law took place. If you go to the ATF link I provided above it explains what states qualify for exemption. CO has NEVER qualified since CO has NEVER issued permits by the state they have always been issued by the sheriff or cheif of police. With the new law only the Sheriff can issue either way what you claim is false.

well i have a good rain suit and i will tell you at one time you were able to purchase a firearm in co w/out a background check by showing a CCW. and a long time ago the ccw's were sheriff/cty issued NOT STATE.
again remember it or not it was possible to buy w/o b/g check
and forget about the atf link .co law superceded the fed law . when the fed law went into effect that is when you could no longer present a ccw to bypass the b/g check. prior to that all b/g's were done through cbi w/o fed check. it was something that wasn't done that much as it was little known let alone advertised it was being done with the dems in control and a dem gov..
give the CBI a call and ask them. ask if sue kitchens(spck) is still around.
of course you would still call me (someone you never met) a liar. nice going pal.......
