High Plains Arms

Happened to see this place on a trip to the Army Surplus in Englewood. Didn't see a thread so here's one . I was only able to take a lap in the store before I had to move along but I will say their prices seemed to be pretty competitive. Given the size of the shop (pretty small) they had a lot of stuff on display and it was very well organized. I will probably make a more in depth trip this weekend.

I've been in their shop three times. That being said I've noticed some of their firearms are priced very reasonable and others not so much (but nothing rediculously over-priced). They are friendly for the most part, but it's clearly obvious they are "new" at the whole "gun shop" experience. They could use a little help with their knowledge base on the product line. Also, they do sell some reloading stuff (+1 for that) but it's not in plain view, so be sure to ask for it because it's usually right behind where they sit.

I understand they are just getting started, so we have to give them some time to get through the "growing pains". Over all, for a small shop I think they are good to go. Also, since they are just down the street from the Army Surplus Store it can be a 2-for-1 stop'n shop.

I stopped in for the second time since they first opened. Lots more stuff every where and great prices on what I saw in the displays. I walked out of there with a Glock at a really good price. I hope you give this business a try.

How are they on ARs and related equipment?

I just registered on here so that I could relay my experience.
I called several stores in the area to check their prices on firearms transfers and High Plains Arms said that their rate was $30, the lowest that I found. When I went to pick up my firearm, they said it would be $50. I said that I thought the rate was $30 and they said it's $50 for the type of rifle I was having transferred. $50 was the most expensive transfer fee out of all the ffl dealers I contacted. If you don't have a flat rate, that's fine. But DON'T tell customers a single number when they call to ask the price of something. More than likely this is High Plains Arms price gouging customers due to the increased number of transfers they are doing. I was thinking about purchasing a 1911 at some point down the road and thought this would be a nice place to do so, but now I feel like the store cheated me over $20 and I won't be back.

How are they on ARs and related equipment?

Didn't have any visible AR equipment except for some grips and such when I went about a week ago, but then again, who does right now?

Been in there a few times nothing bad to say like others the store is small but in good order. Service was good as long as you initiate any discussion

I am in the market for a mil-spec buffer tube to complete my latest AR build. Noticed Bowers was closed today (which sucks ass) and no one else I knew of in the south part of town had one. On a hunch, I called High Plains Arms. The man I spoke with said they have one in a "kit". I asked what that included. He replied, "The buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, spring and buffer." I really only needed the spring and the tube but asked what the price was anyway. He said, "$150". I confirmed the kit did NOT come with a stock. He said, "Correct, just the buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, spring and buffer." I said, "Okay, thanks." and hung up the phone. I know things are a little crazy right now, but $150 for a buffer tube kit with NO stock? This is gouging, plain and simple. I know I can get the items I need from Bowers for 1/3 the price this craphole was asking.

I must have gone in there on a bad day. They were complete asshats to me and my buddy. I won't ever step foot in there again because of how they treated us.

anyone that is three times more expensive than cheaper than dirt has really accomplished something.

Yeah, I just called them again and asked the guy on the phone AGAIN how much their mil-spec buffer tube kit is and was told again, $150. I advised the guy who picked up the phone that the same kit + stock is selling on Cheaper Than Dirt for $49.97. He said, "Well, guess you'll have to order it from them" and hung up on me. I will NEVER set foot in that store or recommend ANYONE go in there. Sad because they are very close to where I live. That being said, I'd rather drive 50 miles to go somewhere I am treated with courtesy & pay a fair price than drive 3 minutes to get treated like shit and pay 3x what the item's worth.
