    Default Best 200yd target rimfire

Not so much concerned about downrange energy or anything. Just want to punch holes in paper at 200yds.

Obviously, calibers other than .22LR are going to be more expensive. That's OK if they're substantially better at 200yds:

    .17 HM2
    .17 HMR
    .22 LR
    .22 WMRF

In summary, what would be the least-expensive choice that still gives good performance.

I have a marlin in .22 wmr and I'm not that impressed with it.. in fact, I think the last tiime I shot it was in the 80's

I hear the 17 hmr is pretty good, and I'd like to try it myself. I wish I could get a replacement bbl for my marlin. (model 25m)

Looks like only the 22LR and 17HM2 are available with 10rd magazines.

The 17HMR and 22 WMRF are 9rd magazines.

Kind of a bummer, but not necessarily a deal-breaker.

17hmr is going to be the best at 200. I have a Marlin 917 and like it a lot.

I really wanted 10rd magazines, which appears to mean 22 LR or .17 HM2.

    Anybody played w/17HM2 @ 200yds?

    Any thoughts on the CZ452 / CZ453?

The CZ is actually a lot less expensive (retail) than the Ruger 77/17.

Kimber makes one call the 17 Pro Varmint, but I don't think 10rd magazines are available.

Here's the Ruger I was looking at:

With 200yd performance and a 10rd magazine in mind...

It looks like there are 3 brands in 17 HMR or 17 HM2.

CZ 452 / 453, Ruger 77/17 and Savage Mark II.

    The less-expensive HM2 is appealing, but I just don't know about it's paper-punching-potential at 200yds.

Check out rimfirecentral if you havn't already. Most say out of the box the CZ is better than the Ruger. I still take my stance that the HMR is going to be a lot better than the HM2.
