I was kind of hoping a few people with through a progression as well.

Started with, X --> then went to Y, and eventually wound up at Z.

I kind of did that with air-rifles, and flashlights...and knives.

Thought maybe I could short-circuit that cycle.

I got both of them recently and haven't used them all that much yet. Just out at Pawnee shooting paper and soda bottles. I plan on using them a lot this summer. I have two small dog town I can hunt but am trying to find more, especially in WY. My Dad also wants to get into coyote hunting.

I am really impresed with the accuracy of the Marlin 917V. Especially when you consider it only cost $190. I did put a Rifle Basix trigger in it though. Very fun to shoot also.

The 204 Ruger is amazing. I agree with other people that state it is like shooting a lazer. You pull the trigger and the target is instantly hit, even at long ranges. I have mine zeroed at 270 yds which gives me a MPBR of about 340. I can hold on a PDs chest out to 340 and it will get hit., as long as I do my part.

Can you get factory ammo for the 204 Ruger for <$.60/rd?

I was really excited about the 17HM2 / 17HMR for a while there, but it doesn't look like it really buys me anything over my 10/22.

We all started with X and went to Y it is human nature. My first gun as stated above was a single shot .410 now I am into NFA weapons. I live by the moto you can never own to many guns I have olny parted with one gun in my entire life. This was a High Standard deringer and I gave it to my little sister on her 21 B-day. The very next year was when that rapist was running loose at CSU. If he would have picked my little sis his arse would be worm dirt I tought her well. She now works for Commerce City PD and she still has that gun.

Everybody goes through a progession my first cary gun was a ruger SP-101 I now carry a G27 but would still not give up my 101 even though I never shoot it anymore.

You can't short circuit life just go with it and buy any and all guns that you feel a need for no reason to justify it.

    I keep expecting someone to chime in that they've got an AR-15, a 308 bolt-gun, a hi-cap 40 S&W, and a semi-auto 12ga.

    And they're set.

Maybe add a rimfire rifle / pistol.

    Done.

I just bought some Hornady from Midsouth for $11.04/20 rnds. I was buying somethng else anyways so I wouldn't count the shipping. Sportsmans has it all the time for $12.99/20 rnds. The best was last year Remmington had a $10 rebate if you bought 2 boxes. Total cost was $16/ 40rnds. I bought 8 boxes but ran out of people to send the rebate to, limit was one per house/name.

I think the 17hmr does offer a lot more than a 10/22. You should try to shoot one to check it out.

Originally they were for hunting. Rifles for elk, shotguns for foul & upland, handguns for people. Now, I find that the interweb, mainly ARFCOM, is making me want to buy some black rifles & pistols "just because."

I have all but the shotgun, so I'm not done. I'm not sure about all of these other guns that don't fit in that specific set, but I'm not done there either. :P

I've been thinking on this one since You first posted it. I'm still not sure how to answer.

1/3 of My collection is C&R type stuff, I like history
1/3 is current or former military issue replicas.
The last third, is shotguns, .22's and pistols.

I honestly can't say as to "why" other than I can, and I like them.
