    Default So, the fun begins

UPS stopped by. We got our pressure canner and dehydrator. Going to try some chicken breasts and green beans with the canner first. Going to dehydrate some fruit with the dehydrator. We are still waiting on the mylar bags and Oxygen tablets. Once they come in, I will dehydrate fruits and potatoes in bulk and package them in mylar. I'm going to package some rice, flour, sugar, powdered milk, and beans too. Hopefully, they will come in before spring break.

Looks good. With all those labels ya would think it was a bathtub approved toaster. Oh, Rancho Liborio has boneless/skinless chicken breasts on sale for $1.47 a pound.

Mylar bags, oxy tablets, and sealer came in today. It's going to be a busy spring break.

The pressure cooker was 225. Its the best on the market. You can get one that works and uses rubber seals without a gauge for about 70 bucks. The dehydrator was also pretty expensive at about 125 (if I remember right). Ther are cheaper ones but the cheap opes have a tendency to burn out. I probably skimped on it and have should of gone one model up with more trays and a timer on it. The mylar and oxy tablets was in the ballpark of 75 dollars and then another 125 for a good sealing unit.

I prefer to cry once and get the higher end stuff unless I know there's a product just as good at a cheaper price. For me at least, how long it will last and maintenance is more important than how cheap. There are cheaper alternatives to what I have above, but not better.

That's $0.50 cheaper than the price of boneless/skinless chicken breasts I saw @ Sam's Club late last week. Good deal!

    Thanks for the heads up...
Cheapest I've seen recently was $1.79 a pound at Sams a while back...

Now... about that bathtub approved toaster...

And they (this week) also have boneless pork sholder/butt for $1.77 along with another week of chicken breasts.

Pic of bathtub approved toaster coming soon.
