    Default Survival Camping

Alright, what good is your survival equipment if you never go out and see what it's good for?
i am currently gathering supplies for my BOB and my plan is fairly rudimentary but its a work in progress. i suggest we test our gear outside of the range. this isn't a discussion on what we need, plenty of other threads for that.
    ITT
where are we going to test?
what is our limitation legally for trapping/snaring?
what can change, and what works best?

    i'm legitimately excited about this.

i was thinking it would be a good idea to test certain skills, such as building shelters from nature, finding food, talking about simple medical procedures etc. but i figure might as well have fun with it. i was thinking id take my tent with wood burning stove (it can hold around 4 people) and all the luxuries with it, such as a cooler with good food and drinks, basically car camp, but during the days have things we can practice and discuss.

personally, i got this tent and stove so that if i had to bug out quickly id have a four season shelter in the mountains so id like to test it out anyway. i have a day pack id be interested in hiking out and testing out some survival supplies and strategies. the only issue is what time of year and what days it could be done. it would be fun if we could get at least 4-6 people and of course we could do some shooting as well.

I'd be up for that. Car camp at night and venture out in the day to learn some skills.

I had a plan to do something like this. Something super beginner this last spring, but I was too busy trying to work 2 jobs on low wages to make it happen.

Grab your BOB or pack your ruck as light as possible with the bare essentials. Head out into the wilderness somewhere not too far from civilization... far enough that you're secluded, but close enough that you can make it back to some form of civilization in half a day's hike or so. Then see how long you can last and head back when you've had enough. Remove the gear you didn't use, make adjustments you think would be helpful, add gear you wish you'd had, then repeat.
Careful though... its very tempting to just stay out there and not return.

I'm definitely interested in a mock bug out and the opportunity to learn some valuable skills from others.

I built my BOB and realized that I was hauling around too much crap. I'd like to be able to strip some unneeded stuff and replace it with knowledge and skills.
