    Default Adopt a Shooting Area???

I saw the article in the paper this morning and I fear the worst

The tracer/tannerite/tv-target group are going to ruin it for us all.

One thing I took away from the article was that they don't have the $$$ to run ranges.

What if the shooting groups could commit to keeping specific areas cleaned up ????

Now might be the time.....there will be public meetings on this

Being proactive might be a really good idea

WE (CO-AR15.COM) have ALWAYS left a range cleaner than we found it.

It's the "trashy don't give a fvck" types that leave places a mess.

    I invision a few things...

    1. Educate people to clean up their own f'n mess
    2. 'get tough' if you observe someone making a mess, be sure to tell them " don't forget to clean up after yourself "
    3. take down license plate(s) info of people making a mess if needed.
4 enlist the assistance of the local popo.

im kinda curious as to why inmates arent at rampart range once a week, cleaning that shit up? Inmates are good for one thing, and thats work, so put em to it.

I can see how inmates and shooters together could be a problem, heres the solution.... post a sign at the range one month prior to engagement of the plan, that the range will be closed wednesdays, from 6am-12pm, or whatever. that way the inmates have free reign to clean and the shooters wont be bothered by inmates runnin around pickin stuff up.

I'm serious... anyone see a downside?

Reading the article, it seems like they want a solution that doesn't cost them anything. They said one option was to create a formal shooting area and have it run by a private party.

You know....you pay your money so you can wait around with unloaded guns while someone fusses with their target/no rapid fire/no drawing from a holster.

All the reasons I prefer unimproved shooting areas

All these suggestions are good ones

But action speaks louder than words and I am afraid we may get booted out of ALL the nat'l forests if we don't take this seriously enough.

Well the good news is that we're allowed to have guns and all the toys that go with them... the bad news is, so are all the idiots. So long as you keep your crap cleaned up, encourage others to do the same, and in some cases do it for them, then all should be good. I say should be.

Well I guess we'll have to see what laws, regs or what not come from this crap. Looks like yet again the responsible majority will end up being regulated because of the idiotic minority. Yet another reason not to go to the "well known" spots.

    Make no mistake

One possible outcome is NO SHOOTING IN THE NATIONAL FOREST

Are we all willing to risk that?

There are already a number of areas restricted from shooting unless in pursuit of game. There are plenty of idiots messing this up for the rest of us and we don't have the ability to police the situation. The broken beer bottles at the shoot locations say plenty. I'll keep taking home more crap than I bring, but places like Harris Park are rapidly being trashed by the idiots that can't think far enough ahead to realize that they're ruining things for everyone. It only takes a few dishonorable people to render the honor system moot.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. The area by its nature is 'open'. I will offer up any info I can find to help the authorities, but every time I get to an area the damage has already been done.
Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.
