Default What's good for back pain?

Woke up this morning and felt normal until standing upright. About a handswidth above the belt, dull throbbing when static to stabbing with movement.

Can't imagine what I did to cause this - lifting/carrying a crate of CMP 3006 yesterday was the only thing unusual. Didn't hurt at all at the time, or at any time throughout the rest of the day.

I don't have anything stronger than advil, tylenol, or booze. Never had anything like this before. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Get Yourself one of those back heat wraps. I've done that for mine now and then, it does work wonders.

When they give advil (equivalent) by Rx, the dose works out to 800 Mg 4 times a day. If you are one whose stomach is ok with advil, it's good to know how high you can go.
When I had my ruptured disc in 97, no drugs could touch the pain, not even the injection from my doc. I got lucky, physical therapy, chiropractic etc got me going and I didn't have to go under the knife. Low back surgery doesn't actually have outcomes a whole lot better than not so I'd say avoid it if you can. Latest research suggests easy movement (walking, gentle swimming) is better than lying on your back for days until the pain retreats.

they gave me flexeril if I remember the name right, I took 2 when I woke up 16 to 18 hours later my back felt fine. I threw them away and have used advil every since.

    1/2 of 10mg erases's my mind. i hear you.

alternate betewwn heat and ice. heat to loosen up the sore muscles then ice to take down the swelling. no more then 10-15 min tops with each.

Thanks for the advice, I went down to Longs for a heating pad and more advil and those seem to be helping.

Advil or Alieve (sp?) work pretty good for me. I've had 3 back surgeries, so I have some Flexeril and other goodies too, but don't like to take them if at all possible. I use an ice pack to numb the lower back area. I also "have" to workout on a recumbent exercise bike and stretch or bad things happen. Hope you feel better XJ. You back in the Springs?
