Default rant (I'm watching the news...)

what is so hard to understand about Illegal Immigrants :?:

I'm ok with immigrants.. heck, thats how I got here (~) My grandfather came here from Europe in the early 1900. They followed the legal US immigration process.
Plus, they came here to be Americans. They were proud to be Americans. They went the extra mile to learn ENGLISH and to be a contributing member of their new American home.

I've been quite disgusted over the whole uprising here latley myself.
they need to put some immigration busses at these rally's and start filling them up. that's just my .02 cents worth though.

...and here I thought they were "undocumented workers".

When will the federal govt. finally do one of the things in their primary charter---protecting the freakin' borders!!!?

If the US is so great, why are these clowns waving Mexican flags?

I agree, they're getting together at the protests, just gather them up and ship them back.
Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

I hear you and don't get me started it makes my blood boil. That is the very reason I do not read the paper or watch the news. My ancestors came here in 1872 I have copies of the imigration papers. They came here to embrace America and make a better life not to destroy it and try to make it like the POS country they left.

Not to mention the only flag they ever raised was Red White and Blue.

I've got a problem when all I hear people talk about is ways to "punish the illegal immigrants."
Many employers know full well they are hiring illegals (walmart janitorial for one). If those employers faced significant penalties, the available jobs for illegals would drop substantially. Supply & demand: less jobs, less people coming over the border.
We've got to put all possible solutions on the table here, not just come up with an easy target scapegoat.

Also, when nafta got shoved down our throat, it was "supposed" to help the economies of our southern neighbors. Well, it's not helping, actually the only people making out from nafta are the big corporations.

More lies from politicians - why am I not surprised.

I found this on the net, I thought it was comical but yet to the point.

    Dear President Bush
I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this.
I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here.
So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
Free medical care for my entire family.
English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
All government forms need to be printed in English.
I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flagpole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and dont enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

I am only the second generation (on my fathers side) to be born in the US

His Grandfather emigrated ( from Europe)during WWII

But once they were here, they were Americans....spoke english only and embraced their new country. It was a rare occaison when my GG even discussed the "old country"

I actually think we should suspend Legal immigration from Mexico until we get the illegal problem under control.

It can be their choice how they want to play it

    That might get their attention

One thing I dont get is the way the government determines who out of these 11 million illegals gets to stay. The way I heard it, the longer you've been breaking the law, the better off you will be? Something like "If you have been here for 2 or more years, you can stay, but less then 2 years you have to go back". Well that makes total FU**ING sense to me.

    Here's my solution......

    #1, deport ALL the illegals

#2, Increase the speed of the "work-greencard" dept. (with the understand that if you become a burdon on your community, you're out)

#3, Elliminate the corporate greed that has allowed these big companies to pay sh** for these crappy jobs.

"Illegal Mexicans do the work that Americans don't want"...... Completely untrue. Illegal Mexicans are willing to work for sh** pay, that Americans would otherwise refuse. You increase the standard janitor pay @ Walmart from $5.15/hr to $8 or 9/hr, you watch how many 18-25 year old Americans go running to apply. Same goes with with McD's. $9/hr isn't much, but you CAN live off of that. Again, keeping corporate greed under control (utilities, gas, housing), it's completly do-able.

So, what about all the companies that aren't full of greed, and can only afford to pay the $5.15/hr? Thats what the "legals" are for....... Too many companies have become filthy rich because of how shitty they treat their employee's. This is what illegals have done for us, by willingly taking this treatment.

Also, we should start fining the hell out of these companies that do hire illegals. And I mean MILLIONS. That money would go into the "Securing the Boarder" fund. The Walmarts and Mc'D's and ect of this country are what's causing them to cross over illegally..... They should be the ones to pay to stop them

put a couple executives in jail for breaking the law (hiring illegals, which is already the law) and bam, this stuff would stop RIGHT NOW

but instead, they keep doing this. [poke]
