Overnight shipping is a killer and $20-30 is the norm for an FFL transfer. I would not feel too screwed. Not happy mind you, but not like I was just violated.

Thanks for the info. That's what I was looking for. I have also heard that if it's an out of state transfer that it's ok for an individual to ship it directly to the receiving FFL via FedEx, UPS and I've even heard that you can ship it Priority Mail through the USPS. I don't know if this is true (legal) or not, but I'm not interested in taking the chance either way, since I don't do this too often (I haven't shipped one in years obviously) and I just go FFL to FFL. I try to keep my toys once aquired when I can.

So today is the 17th, I shipped on the 12th, and they didn't get it on the truck until the 13th, even though they assured me that it would go out on the 12th.

So with the holiday over the weekend, the shipment is set to be received today. Not too bad actually [angry] , a couple of hours for something that should have taken 20 minutes and $85.00 bucks to get a package shipped and delivered on the 13th, that is in reality going to be received (hopefully) 5 days later! Just food for thought for anyone planning on shipping out of The Firing Line. I don't plan on going back there anytime soon.

Thanks again for the comments that have been posted to my initial inquiry.

FWIW i recently sold a P7 to a guy back east. I went through green mountain guns and they charged me $65 which included everything ($1600 worth of insurance, and the FFL transfer fee).

The second gun I ever bought was a shotgun from them. The guy told me that it was a gun that it wasnt. i waaaaaaaay over paid.... you can literally get the gun that I bought used, for about as third as much brand new. They absolutely took advantage of a young inexperienced buyer. (this was years ago) . needless to say, I have not purchased with them again.

then getting attitude from them everytime trying to use the range... I havent been back there.

Rob is now officially closed for business and enjoying retirement. Tom is still in business and will continue to be in business until a better opportunity presents itself. I just bought a shotgun from Tom about a week ago. Tom will always make you a good deal and he's a good guy to deal with. Tom and Rob were two of my favorites of the small independents. Green mountain guns also will do you a nice deal. And a couple of the guys are real good guys.

Having purchased a couple rifles from the consignment rack and used the range a few times I have this to say about the store:

Great selection of tacticool rifles, shotguns and pistols!
The younger guy behind the counter has been very polite and helpful. The older guys along with the owner come off as polite but "indifferent" to me. Having worked behind the counter myself, I can't much hold it against them. I was never treated badly or snubbed but didn't walk away exactly feeling great about doing business with them.

The indoor pistol range NEEDS BETTER VENTILATION! I've been to my share of indoor setups and theirs gets pretty bad if there are 3 or more people doing heavy shooting. If visiting during the weekends, expect smoggy conditions!

    I rate:
    A+ Gun selection
    B to A- Service
    A+ Knowledge
    A+ Accessories selection
    C Shooting Range

I'll pluck through the consignment rack, look for deals behind the counter and use the range only if I am desperate.

I stoped in there this weekend, they seemed nice enough, and they were very helpful. the prices seemed somewhat fair.

Im there pretty often...they are nice chatters, but a bit of gun snobs and overpriced...

They have a used Romanian AK for $600...I asked about that price, saying it was too high...they agreed, but that was it...still there months later and no price drop....

The range is okay, but me and some friends went there on 10/21 and it was downright frigid in there, with snow on the ground outside...overhead heaters on every lane, none turned on...

I'll say this, I bought my first firearm from them...pretty good deal. $325 for a Sigma .40 brand new...but yeah, they are overpriced but are friendly...theyve let me handle their MP5 a couple times, and the PS90 once...
