allegedly stabbed a woman with a Samurai sword through the front door of her home as she was trying to keep him from breaking in.
I would guess as soon as the blade hit the front door one would justified. Cannot just go shooting every freak that shows up in costume at your door though, imagine the carnage Oct 31..
in this case the attack had already been started before that point
since the darn thing requires registration:
"A Grass Valley man was arrested Tuesday morning after he allegedly stabbed a woman with a Samurai sword through the front door of her home as she was trying to keep him from breaking in.
Zoltan Michael Gergely, 30, was being held without bail on a charge of attempted murder.
"It was a real weapon," Grass Valley Police Capt. Jerod Johnson said. "It's very sharp."
The bizarre situation unfolded Monday at about 11 p.m., when Charles Robert Frazier III, 37, and his 28-year-old girlfriend - whom Grass Valley police did not identify - answered a knock at Frazier's door, on the 400 block of West Main Street.
Two men, one of whom Frazier identified as Gergely, were at the door, police said.
Johnson said Gergely immediately unsheathed the Samurai sword, also pulled out an ax, and charged at Frazier. A struggle ensued on the front porch, and the other man, who was later identified as Robert Montgomery, 44, was hit in the head with the sword, Johnson said.
Frazier and the woman were able to run back inside and lock the door. The woman was forced to lean on the door to block it when Gergely allegedly started to try to kick it down, according to police. Frazier found his own ax inside the home and decided to go outside to confront the two men, but before he got the chance, and as the woman was blocking the door, Gergely reportedly stabbed the sword through it two times.
The attacker stabbed the woman once in the back, and the wound was several inches deep and two inches wide, Johnson said.
Both suspects fled the scene and Frazier called 911. The woman was taken to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Her condition was not known Tuesday evening.
Acting on a tip, police pulled over a pickup truck on South Church Street at about 5 a.m. They arrested Gergely and found the sword and ax inside, Johnson said.
Montgomery was not arrested, Johnson said, because he did not break any laws. If anything, Johnson said, Montgomery might become a victim in the case because he got hit in the head during the altercation.
Police investigators had not determined the cause of the attack Tuesday evening, and Johnson said that Gergely was not talking.
"We didn't know whether he was after the boyfriend or after the girl," Johnson said.
According to police logs, officers were called out to Gergely's home, on the 100 block of South Church Street, at about 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, because someone feared Gergely may have been acting suicidal after a break-up with a boyfriend."
I guess I am from the old school come at me with any weapon in a threatening manner and your going to get shot.
"The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion." (Edmund Burke 1784)
Bang, bang, stop, bang, put down the weapon, bang, or I'll shoot, bang bang. :P Karl.
