Default Rock River, Compass Lake and White Oak.

I am looking around for a ar-15 for service rifle competition and the following are in the running.
    Rock River
    Compass Lake
    White Oak

Rock river seems to have a 4-6 week wait. (Maybe more)
I am not sure about the others yet.

    Any opinions?

Compass lake offers Douglas barrels and Krieger barrels.
Not sure the pros and cons of this choice.

The Douglas is 1:8 twist while the Krieger is 1:7.7 not sure how much difference that makes either.

    Thanks for any input.

I have a Krieger barrel in my MSTN built lightweight upper.
I watched my wife put all 30 in a group about 1.5 inches across shooting off a range bag at 110 yards.
Yeah, I'd vouch for Krieger barrels. (1:7.7 too)

Compass Lake (Frank White) build a nice ratgun. White Oak (John Hollinger) also builds a top notch gun.

My Service rifle is a Compass Lake with a Gieselle trigger and its little twin brother is a 22 long rifle top end.

I am thinking about having John build me a 6.5 twist upper so I can shoot 90s, but time off next year will tell more. The rest of this season is toast.

Rock River is good, but I much prefer the custom route.

Toss a Gieselle trigger in that Stag Lower, get a Service Rifle upper and call it good.

I didn't get the Stag lower just the upper.
I have an Olympic Lower (now with Jewell trigger) that came with my K8 Mag.

I did get so shoot the Stag lefty upper though on Saturday, REAL fun.

I am just beaing lazy on the lower since I have a magpul stock and aftermarket grip that I would have to change out every time I shot a HP competition.

Eh, I might just get a White Oak Armament service rifle upper and see how it goes for a while. They still seem real nice and about $300 less than the White Oak Precision uppers.

Krieger barrels are cut rifled while the douglas barrel is button rifled. I think it is up to you on what you want to spend. A Krieger is a better barrel, cut barrels are more accurate than button, but out of an AR, there will likely be just a little difference.

    White Oak won.

I should have a new upper in 2-3 weeks.
I opted for their "regular" CMP service rifle.
Talked to Mr. Hollinger on the phone, very helpful.

White Oak Armament vs White Oak Precision

The only difference is the barrel but I doubt I will be able to tell.

    Let the waiting begin.
