    Default FFL transfer for cheap?

When i was living in texas, i had a guy at a pawn shop who would do all my transfers for free. his attitude was, "Why am i guna charge you for filling out one paper and making a call?" Matter of fact, he said that to me when i called him on the phone to ask. Good business on his part, whenever i needed anything, i would call him up first to see what he had.

Anyway, my question is, is there a local favorite for transferring guns purchased from outta state like gunbroker.com, gunsamerica.com, etc?

I went shopping today, specialty sports had what i was after, an HK USP 45 compact, but they wanted over $800 for it. I asked if the prices are negotiable, and he said no, but his prices are pretty much the lowest in town.

That being said, i see a really well taken care of pistol for $575 on the interweb that im interested in since its over $200 cheaper.

So does anyone know someone who does transfers for next to nothing?

There are a list of local FFLs on eaglefirearms.net. I called a few a year ago, the average price was $20-40 for the transfer.

ive already found a place on platte to do it for $10.... but its not the money im worried about. its the business ethic.

I guess one reason, is when i was looking for an FFL holder to do a transfer, one place i called, asked me what type of firearm it was. I told him it was a mossberg 500A, and he told me he would charge $50 plus 10% of the purchase price because it was something he carried. I asked him how much he wanted for it, and he said $350. I said, i can get one on gunbroker, from another dealer for $220 shipped, he said he would be happy to charge me the $50 plus 10%, so i hung up on him.

does that make any sence or am i rambling again?

if you don't have anyone to do the transfer for you at your price, it doesn't matter how cheap you can get it online.
call jensens in loveland or eagle firearms in lakewood. they might have what you're looking for in stock. sure its a drive but hey you saved a few dollars.
    have you called dragonman?
as for doing it for free. a ffl has employees that he pays either by the hour or on a salary. if it takes more then the usual 10 min your freebie has cost him money. 3-4 a day and he's loosing money doing you a favor. spend the ten bucks. who knows next time they might comp you.

I don't know how pawn shops are in the Spgs, but they usually don't charge exuberant amounts. And none of that "$50 + 10% because we stock it" mainly because many don't stock new guns.

In the Springs, Specialty Sports will do it. I can't remember what they charge.

"Circuits" may do it for you, but I think he was charging $25. I'm not sure he is into doing transfers these days, but you can drop down to his forum and ask.

Shooting Den would not last time I asked.

I have not tried anywhere else.

Guess I should've kept mine, huh?

Hickman Rifles off Tia Juana will do it for $20.00. Never had a problem with him, and he is a good 'smith. He is only open after 4:30 though. Additionally, he will order guns for his cost plus 10%. Where that lands in the retail market, I haven't a clue. I "impulse" buy off Gunbroker!

Last I heard, TNT Firearms in Denver was doing $1.00 transfers. There was a post on AR15.com from him about it. I saw him a couple weeks ago and he said he was still doing them for a 'buck'. The contact is Tyler Larkin (303) 988 - 4912.
