Swapped out the pistol-grip. Eventually went to a TA11 ACOG & LaRue mount. There's a surprising amount of money tied up in that gun.

Bought an Olympic K9GL. Factory floated barrel and SIR quad-rails. Trijicon Accupoint in an Armalite 1pc mount. Magpul M93B stock. BUIS, VFG, etc. Again -- wow -- amazing what it adds up to.

So I've got essentially a Cavalry Arms "Trooper". 1:9" twist, 14.5" with the permanently attached flash-suppressor. I selected this in part because I COULDN'T screw with it.

I've managed to last 7 months.

Now I keep finding myself thinking about a fairly heavy 1:8" twist, stainless barrel. Probably 16", plus a flash-suppressor. As long a gas-system as I can get (never seen / heard of rifle-length on a 16"). Maybe a LaRue 13.2" handguard. Surefire.

    Or maybe go SBR.

I've got 18inch 1x8 SS barrels (full length gas system) or 16inch Wilson 1x8 SS for you and a larue 13.2 in stock. Just tell me when you want me to start your build

I ordered a Troy Modular Rail Forend.

Simple installation without removal of front sight or barrel.

And a Surefire M600A (Scout Light) from MSTN.

I'm after something primarily for inside (home, tent) use with a CQB sight and a weapon-mounted light that's accurate enough (~1-1.5MOA) to double as a target-rifle with a scope.

I'm still trying to decide myself how far I'm really willing to go with that idea. I may just have 2 different rifles for 2 different purposes.

    Default Nice rifle

I think many of the rail forearms are ugly. However, you can buy a standard looking front end that free floats. They designed them for match competition and they're pretty affordable compared to some of the rail systems.

I bought a Leupold 2.5-8x36mm scope for it.

If the factory barrel will shoot "good enough" then I'm just going to quit messing with it.

Otherwise I'm toying with the idea of a high-quality 16" barrel, rifle-length gas-system and probably a carbon-fibre free-float tube that will still allow me the option of mounting a light and / or bipod and / or maybe a VFG.

Ideally I think I'd like a "target" rifle for plinking that I can reconfigure for home / defense just by swapping stuff on / off.

Shot about 100rds today. It seemed to favor Winchester "white box" 55gr (the 40rd Value Pack version), 75gr TAP, and Black Hills "blue box" 69gr.

    Didn't like XM193 or Black Hills 75gr.

    Some velocities:

    Black Hills "blue box" 69 - 2666fps
    Winchester "white box" 55gr - 2927fps
    Hornady 75gr .223 TAP - 2552fps
    XM193 - 3086fps
    Black Hills "blue box" 75gr - 2603fps

    How did you calculate velocity?
