Thread: Hit and Run

    Default Hit and Run

Driving South on I-25 today at about 2:30pm, was hit by a large red Dodge pickup. I think it was a Nevada license plate DVL-ISHS. Decided he wanted to be in my lane.

Took out the turn-signal and dented up the quarter panel. I think it was his tire / bumper that caught me, so not much damage to his vehicle.

    Kept right on going.

    :-(

Probably at about Pueblo by now.

I stopped by the Sand Creek police station and got a traffic-accident report.

I have to fill it out and mail it in though.

    There's a link to http://crash.state.co.us, but I haven't checked it out yet.

Turns out you can't file hit-and-run online.

Called the CO State Patrol -- was sort of hoping they'd be on the lookout or something.

But the accident was within City Limits, so its back to CSPD.

My sister had a hit and run right in front of my house. It took the awhile for the police to respond the person was long gone. We never got any further than that. Police report filed, $500 deductable paid  .........

I hope you find out who hit you, if you're lucky they can catch them and its a felony.

I was down in the Springs last Saturday. My nephew just got stationed down there and we went shooting at DM's. On the way home, almost got T-Boned by some Ditz who ran a red light. As it was I saw her just in time and she just grazed my front bumper. Lost my plate holder and cracked the grill. She stopped, and so did 4 others who saw the whole thing and wanted to give their stories to the cops.

I get my truck fixed on Tuesday, free of charge. Yes there is a God, and at least 4 folks who believe in doing the right thing.

    Good luck with yours Michael.

An RE/MAX agent happened to see the whole thing and stopped. Gave me her card.

There are good people out there.

It's a "beater" car and I only have liability insurance. It's not a huge deal.

Just makes me mad that the guy did it on-purpose and then just drove away.

It hadn't occurred to me at the time, but my wife suggested

    DVL-ISHS could be a vanity-plate.

In the immortal words of Arfcom, You should've drawn down. heh, heh.

2000, Broncos-Raiders were playing, I was upstairs when I heard a crash. Looked out the window and some Idiot was parked in My truck. Called the cops and grabbed the camera and went down,by the time I got there He was trying to push the car out of My truck, I started to take pictures of Him, the car, the plates anything I could think of. About this time He asks Me if I would help him push the car. Because He was late for work. I was dumbfounded, I just told him to wait for the police.

I thought He was going to start crying, about that time the cops show up, said other than noteing it down for the insurance, there wasn't anything He could do, Private property. The story I got was He was trying to push start it because of a dead battery.

At the time I had My truck Brand new, not even a scratch in it yet, for about 6 weeks. He had some junker that makes Karl's look like a Rolls Royce. My bed was so damaged that They had to replace the whole thing. His, if it got a scratch I couldn't tell.
