Any hints for a novice shore fishing? I used to fish back in Dallas for small mouth on a friend's property, but those fish were hungry and would latch on to anything. Same with the blue gill, hell, you could use a little cheese on a hook and just hold the line with your hand and you were pulling them in as fast as you could wind up the line. Not sure what it is about Colorado, but I just don't have any luck.

Mostly using either power bait on a 4" lead, small spinners, or small lures. Most hits I've had yet is off of a real tiny spinner w/ some power bait. Shore fishing sucks, but it's all I can do right now. Any help is appreciated...

those are not trout... i was there a few weekends ago and they are shad... if you net them you can see they are not trout....
