I have a leather handled ka-bar that seems indestructible... for the better part of 18 years :P
Lately though I've been taking a Cold Steel Busman Bowie when I go camping... for about 25 bucks it was well worth it, stays decently sharp and since it was so cheap I don't feel bad about throwing/digging/chopping/splitting/hammering with it... Also would make a decent spear if the need came up.
I took a fairly good sized aspen tree down - well, chopped it up - when a wind storm knocked it down in my back yard with one of cold steels cheep-o kukries... Worst part about that blade is that the grip is murder on your hands, did a fun paracord katana wrap on it and it's pretty nice now... It also came with a terribly off-center sharpening job but was able to fix that with a file while bored in a couple of hours.
