The vinegar is not only supposed to make the egg taste better, but it helps the egg sort of stay in one area, instead of flowing everywhere and sticking to the pan. I'd also suggest using some non-stick spray very lightly on your slotted spoon.

And as an aside....LOOK! I made it beyond my 30-day probation! I'm a PAPER HUNTER now. *struts*

    Oh piece of cake!

As The Grey said, the vinegar keeps the egg from spreading all over. Vinegar also helps if you are trying to hardboil an egg that has been cracked. Somehow the vinegar keeps the egg inside the shell (even if it has a large and obvious crack).

Congrats TheGrey! Lots of new members here lately, and its good to have some that actually contribute!

Wish we could keep the cracked ones from blowing out in the steamer. Yes, we use our vegetable steamer to hard "boil" eggs. Works great.

I wonder if rubbing a little vinegar on them would do anything?

Maybe? interesting idea... when hardboiling 4 eggs, I usually just put in a teaspoon of vinegar.
