Thinking of a design for a simple sight pusher. At the moment, I'm thinking of making a 3/8" thick T out of aluminum.

Basically, you'd use the c-clamp to hold this T next to the slide, with gasket material (or leather) between c-clamp and slide, with one of the holes lining up with the sight you want to push out. The holes are tapped for a smallish (6-32 or 8-32) soft point set screw. Then, you just use an allen wrench and tighten the set screw.
The reason for the various lengths off the center is in case the slide has a manual safety or other thing on it preventing you from properly lining up the c-clamp axis with the sight. 6 is probably overkill, but I'd rather only do it once.
So what say you, will this work or am I not seeing why it wont?

I have a Sig P Series sight pusher.
the pusher holds the slide using the rail slots in the slide

Oh what the heck, you get the idea! lol Formatting is a killer.
I want something a little more universal than having to buy a factory sight pusher, and I also don't want to drop $100 on a nice pusher, nor do I want to spend $50 on someone elses machine shop hack job. This would take 15min tops to machine out on the mill and should work for every type of firearm. Best of all, if a slide is angled (like some XD's) you can shim it to still work. I think. In theory at least it works lol
