Just got back from a 'dog' hunt..... I thought the guy meant coyotes. I was looking forward to hitting some chicken killin yotes.... Turns out they were just stray dogs, three blue-tick hounds really scraggly and worn looking. Hadn't been fed, taken care of, or anything for about a month or two. Here's the part that upsets me: the guy knew they weren't yotes. I just didn't ask because yotes and hogs are pretty bad here, so when someone says hey lets take care of some dogs, everyone grabs a rifle and gets ready to shoot coyotes. The M-Fer KNEW they were someone's abandoned pets (dont get me started on that!) and tried to get me to kill them anyways.

i put them (live and undernourished) in my car and drove them to an animal hospital.

$400 later, and the dogs look pretty normal.

I tried getting that guy arrested, but because the dogs didn't get shot, he just gets to be a turd.

Keep in mind, in TX as well as CO, loose dogs are considered wild / predators. You did what you felt was right. I would have tried to call them in and taken them to the shelter.
Although there was one time i tried for a stray and the damn thing lunged at me.
