Of course, I suppose it depends what you have to do in those twelve hours.
Summer shifts for me are super short (12hrs). Winter shifts on the other hand are 16-17hrs. We have 4 night shifts year round ,and in the winter they really suck starting around night 2.5 lol. But really, we work in the winter from around 3:30pm until 7:30am. Then walk to the building next door, go to sleep, wake up, walk back to the office doing the entire way.

And a bit of advice, when you find two recipes for the same dish but aren't sure which to make, think about the ingredients you want the MOST in the dish and choose THAT recipe.

Was going to make a breakfast casserole: hash browns, eggs, ham, cheese, what more could you ask for, right?

Well, I tossed that recipe and kept the: hash browns, ham, cheese, cream of potato soup, sour cream.

I WANT EGGS IN MY BREAKFAST CASSEROLE!

No, its what they call "cutting the food budget in half for the 2 months before the wedding in order to finish paying off bills for the wedding". Believe it or not, its worked quite well at saving money. Granted, we'll eat the same thing for 4-5 days straight lol.
