I want to learn to shoot 500-1000 yards but don't really know where to start... I have a rem 700 heavy barrel 308, I reload(still a newb), but its hard to drop big coin on something I don't know if I will enjoy.

One of the shooters here has a bone stock 700 with a good bit of glass on top. He plucked out a first round hit at 900.

Yeah I've been training 3-4 times a week for 2 years 4 months. That's approx 450 hours of mat time...

That's a lot of training, HC. Actually, I kinda wish I could do my music lessons 3 times a week, but then I would be paying a Stupid amount of money on music lessons. At least in your case, it seems that what you're learning is NOW, repeatable NOW. I have to practice new shit for a week to even get halfway decent at it....and that's if I get a good hour a night at it.

Army's been using 10x for a long time and killed a lot of bad guys at farther than that. You'll be fine. The duplex reticle might hinder fine adjustments to poi. Look at what the magpul DVD says about the duplex reticle.

In any case, all of shooting comes down to just two things: sight alignment and trigger control.

Apply the fundamentals, dry fire your ass off, and that way when you shoot at distance, the corrections are for environmentals,not fundamentals.
