Do you guys even have a physical eyepiece anymore? Or is it all instruments, CCDs, etc attached to the scope?

Netflix has both of them on streaming. Pretty hokey, but funny too.

We have a physical eyepiece for our 3.5m telescope, but we only put it on for special occasions (open houses, visiting classes, visiting scientists etc). I've seen some APOLLO landing sights on the moon with it, and Saturn (you can count the rings with the 3.5m eyepiece), and jupiter among others.

But yes, my telescope is all CCDs. One of our instruments is actually using 3 NIR CCD chips that were rejected by the James Webb Space Telescope because they had too many defects. They work perfectly for us though, but to be put in space, they wanted perfect chips.

Would be cool to check it out someday. Or the new one when you get it built.

Yup, well the new one i'm building is an instrument (starting maybe next fall), in the coming year though, i'll be building all of hte hardware to go between the telescope and the instrument (that isn't built yet) lol.

The show 'beyond scared straight' is on. It makes me sad for the future of the earth.
Just doing what I can to stay on this side of the dirt.
