Yea, I tend to be cheap too and won't get it, but with my wife getting the iphone and how expensive it is, I'm a little more cautious. Then again, she's very careful with her stuff and doesn't throw it like I do mine....

On the flip side, sometimes phones/electronics-in-general really do have manufacturers defects that aren't your fault. But it would still suck to get a refurb as I've gotten them in the past and they were almost in worse shape than my broken phone.

Oh, and whats the concensus on those extended warranty/insurance plans? I know you get a refurb phone and not a new one, but are they still worth it? Or just take a chance that you won't need a replacement phone more than once every 10mo (since hte plans are $10/mo) and buy a new, $100 phone then if needed?
My wife insisted on the insurance for my droid. At over $400.00 retail the $60 a year don't hurt too bad.

Full disclosure - I have a history of taking anger out on phones and several industrial mishaps that my employer paid for.

Lobo...I'm certain that I'd want to take a few steps back from you during an "episode", and then calmly offer a beer after it was all over...

I've seen someone do a total downward destruction spiral!

They got pissed off from a call, so they threw their phone and it shattered in two piece on the wall. Then they got pissed off and picked up their keyboard and slammed it, again, breaking it in two pieces. At this point myself and my other two roommates were backing up out of throwing distance (while drinking beer and laughing silently in shock/horror), then he got pissed off at that and punched my couch. What he thought was a soft armrest actually had no padding at all and he punched right into the wood 2x4 framing underneath. He ended up shattering all 4 bones in the palm of his hand. Of course, we then spent the entire night in the ER with him, so that sucked, but it was all because of his own anger.

BC, there was a time I had some anger issues. Age helps that go away, thankfully.
