But because I'm a smartypants, I took advantage of the fact that wood floats and rocks sink (just like guns!), filled a huge plastic container with water and dumped each shovel full in, then strained out the floaters. Took me about an hour and a half, but it was much easier than hand picking the rocks out!
i do not strain my floaters. I just flush.

Yes, well, in NM, we don't have indoor plumbing, so we just go in buckets and then strain the larger pieces...

So why were you tellin' me to buy plywood? And you want pictures of me scooping up woodchips?

Put plywood down so chips don't mix with rocks.

I can't do that when this was a firewood delivery.

Bought 1 cord from a local, already split, for $65. He showed up with a dump trailer. Asked me where I wanted it, I said concrete (driveway goes up side of house as an RV pad but without the RV). He backed up too far and dumped it on the rocks before I could tell him he went too far.

He knocked off $5 and went on his merry way, I got to clean up the mess after stacking the wood. Didn't know there would be THAT many chips/shavings in the load. And for the record, most locals charge $100-$150/cord delivered un-split, so I got a GREAT deal even with the cleanup.

I'd do it myself (buy 4 cords for $20 from forest service and cut them myself), but no access to a trailer. Its also a huge convenience thing.
