    And yes, M82 is 12 million light years away. As in, light travels for 12 million years at the super fast speed (of light, duhh) before it reached us. LONG ways away.

    They expect it to reach maximum brightness in about 2 weeks, which is the point to really rake in the data to use for the standard candle database (which I'm sure such a thing exists, astronomers have databases for EVERYTHING )

    A friend of mine just passed through Ft Hood to go to Afghanistan and posted a pic of him getting a hug from her, as well as why she is called that. Pretty cool!

    Nah, it would still take you millions if not billions of years to get there at Ludicrous Speed. You'd need to be going AT LEAST Ridiculous Speed or higher to make it there in any reasonable amount of time.
