    Dang, while drafting for work, my assembly (all the parts put together) just crossed the threshold for the maximum number of parts in one assembly and therefore, it is now now running in "Large Assembly Mode".

    This apparently means that the graphics/texture/details of all parts in the assembly are turned down to the bare minimum, making it painful to look at the full assembly.
