So, I hand the server back the check and inside are my ID and my debit card. This is what happened when she came back:
her: I like the picture on your ID! I'm glad that you made a nice face. Too many people take it really seriously.

her: your card says I can't run it until I see your ID.
me: that's why I gave it to you, so you could see it and verify.
