Bench looks like dick. Wouldn't have looked much better if I was sober though, considering the wood I used. The last two boards took me two hours to put on because I was drinking. I ruined like 7-8 Phillips head bits in a row before I realized that my pilot holes were not large enough (even though MOST of the other screws had no problems). Hillman brand pocket screws suck balls. Broke four of them in the bench. Had to turn my drill way down to avoid it, and I've NEVER had to do that before, with ANY screw.

Here is the appropriate distance at which to observe the bench and still think it looks okay.

Closer. Despite all the wood in my attic, I didn't have any pieces for the bench top that were at least 60" long, so I had to cut four different pieces down to 30" and just split the difference. The gap in the middle was bigger than I intended, but I was limited on resources.

Intended spot and purpose. You can see the wood pile and general mess in the background of the previous picture. This one is 5' long and holds most of my wood pile. I plan to build two more of the same length for more seating and more wood storage. Kind of kicking myself for not thinking of this sooner, as I was thinking I would just find another place in the yard to put the wood.
Outdoor use, put on heavy dark stain, indoor use make the wife paint it.

My work schedule just went from "this crap sucks" to " when's retirement again?". Probably won't have a weekend off this month and a whole bunch of shift jumping to boot. How the hell are you doing bro, you still up in da hood?
