dude........ I think everyone is still butt-hurt over the exercise last week. A lot of the folks didn't know what they were doing and then got defensive when a subject matter expert came in and tried to educate.

this week just might be brutal.

I think for all of us.

Since my direct supervisor wasn't part of the exercise, he feels that I wasn't paying any attention to him during the exercise. My reply was, "I was part of the exercise. I was decisively engaged with everything going on there, and thus was unable to complete everything outside those four walls."

That went over like a turd filled balloon.

If he felt left out, I can't really blame him for that. I'd feel left out, too. However, I would then try to make myself as relevant as possible to the organization so that I didn't get put into a corner and marked 'useless' . . . .

I guess he and I just have different ways of thinking of things.

Herding cats and travel planning, story of my life.

Just trying to get dates out of clients that can't get anything done internally (ready for my arrival) is a challenge. I have to give them hard deadlines or they'll push it to, "I know it's already Thursday (or even Friday fer cryin out loud) but can you be here all next week starting Monday AM?"

fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) I live and die by what my calendar says. If I have 'white space', I put something on there. If I don't, someone will schedule a meeting for me, and that's a big no-thank-you for me.
