Only drove an F-body a few years in the weather and they needed snow tires. My 73 formula did OK in the snow and the 78 TA W72 was terrible. Now the peek behind the 78 was my 70 Grand Prix SJ that was an absolute tank in the snow. I did the 96 blizzard with out any issue until it became a snowplow. All cars had safe-t-trac (posi) rearends in them.
Drove the 70 GP out to Oregon two winters and never missed a beat. The 76 only saw a little snow once on a trip back from Oregon. I prefer RWD as long as it is balanced.
One thing many did not get is the 69-72 GP's are technically a mid engine car. When they added a few inches to the lemans/GTO frame it put the engine behind the centerline of the front axle. Outside of the weight the GP's were better balanced cars than like my 72 GTO.![]()
