I despise CFL and have been waiting for LED to become better priced.

As much as I also despise GE, I picked up a couple 2-pack 60W at Walmart last week for $6.64 each. I should have bought a few more, but also picked up a rather more expensive "outdoor" rated lamp for the porch.

My biggest concern with LED was mounting anything upside-down. All but one of these so far are mounted lamp up or horizontal. We'll see if they survive their claimed warranty period.

What's the deal with mounting LEDs upside down? I can't imagine what the problem could be. I've got two mounted upside down and will report any problems. So far I love how durable they are. I dropped my desk lamp into the engine bay while working on my truck a few times and the light stayed on. When installing one in the girl's bathroom I dropped the bulb from the fixture into the sink. A regular bulb would have exploded all over me. LED bulb is fine and working.

I'm on the LED buss, but I've had a few of them not perform all that well on the duration test(s).

The upside down porch light LED bulb on the back porch only lasted a year and turned into a strobe light last week. The ones in the dining room fixture seem to have lost some of their brightness but are still working.

Kazoo, if you want free CFL's , I have a butt ton of them and no use for them....they're yours for the taking.

$450 later, I have more wood and insulation, silicone and some electrical outlet stuff. Another $75 and got all my propane bottles filled and one of them exchanged.

    Heat soak ruins the components.

I do believe they've pretty much solved this issue now, but time will tell. One of the reasons I've been waiting as long as possible to make the move.
