    This really doesn't look very secure in the photo.... As it is now, it looks like it is just holding on to the shingle on the peak, which is probably pretty unreliable. I would think that it needs something that looks like track spikes to dig into the shingles on the other side of the peak.

    Well, you can't damage the roof. The Goat is nearly the same hook, but larger diameter, and aluminum. I see what you are seeing, but remember that the force you are applying will be downward, nearly parallel to the slope you are standing on, so it doesn't slide up over the Ridge. You are correct in that it tends to hook on the edge of the Ridge shingle. Alone that would not be safe, but the edge of the single only serves to stabilize the hook, while the weight is applied through the foot onto the decking. I'll let you try it some time.

    Why is it when you're "engrossed" in something.....it sounds "gross". Not really fair, if its actually disgusting in reality. Engusting would be more of a precise word, if that happened to fit your particular scenario.
