Does it cost more, less, or negligible to run tankless compared to a tank?

Overall operating costs will be pretty much the same. However when they build some of these houses they only build with high efficiency tanked direct vent water heaters. The cost is usually around 2200-2500 depending on the install. Those tanks will probably last 7-10 years. A tankless is roughly $4200 and will last for 20 with proper maintenance and will save space.
