Well, 9 months and probably over $700 later, and I'm nearly done with that stupid garden.

I just replanted Kale, Broccoli, Beans and Peas. We've been getting more Kale than we know what to do with, but broccoli only produces once.

Now that the barrel stove is rusted and looks like garbage. I'm going to build something like this instead. Easy to remove and shouldn't leave any lasting impression on the concrete slab on which it will be built.

You're going to put fire on concrete and not leave an impression?

I hope you have fire brick on the bottom to protect the concrete.

Allow me to expand for you. Build the circle of stones, fill the base with lava rock or other crushed gravel, line circle with fire brick to protect blocks, burn fire. I meant that I could easily remove it when it's time to move out of this house, or it starts to look terrible (like the barrel stove).

Too bad about the stove. While those fire pits are nice. You're kind of screwed during fire bans and nosey neighbors.

I'd probably be alright with it being in my enclosed back yard. Not to mention that I pretty infrequently used the stove.
