Just so we're clear, this is what is happening. This is an old picture with a different material (denim and a plastic backing), but it's doing the same thing. Last time I just blew out the machine and changed needles (the tip was broken) and everything was fine after that.

Clutch motors are a pain, get a servo motor if you can swing it.

Sounds like there needs to be a sewing thread

Suppose to be picking an older sears unit up tomorrow, weather permitting. If "somebody" isn't car shopping Sunday. Perhaps they'll run n up with their machine.

I found the manual for it! They had the wrong numbers on it. I printed out a copy for you.

Aw, did I kill the thread?

    Goodnight, guys!

What do you guys sew? Do you have projects, or is it just a side fun thing to do?

I sew clothes right now, but I have patterns for bags and toys that I'm looking forward to trying. And when it's craft far season, I've got tons of mittens, hats, scarves and the like ready to go.

It IS very fun, and there are a million possibilities with a decent machine.

We're going to be trying to sew leather, once we get our older machines spruced up.

Here is the project I mentioned with the denim and heavy duty plastic backing. I was able to go through triple layers of denim plus double layers of plastic when sewing this up using the jeans needle.

    Inside

Finished and full of 24lbs of sand.

Messing around and making a sawzall blade roll.

    Pin cushion

    These cute owl pajama pants.

I made an old timey night cap to match the owl pants, but I can't get the photo to show up right this second. I'm making a pajama set and haven't attempted the tops yet.
