I'd really like to learn how to repair clothes, specifically replacing pockets with holes in them on my pants/shorts, but repairs seems to be a whole different beast of its own.

That's actually pretty cool!
I I guess there are tons of possibilities out there such as soft carrying bags, tool bags, and all kinds of stuff. Good skill to have.
I sewed a length of rebar into an orange nylon strap and hang it on the back of my ladder. The rebar keeps the webbing from blowing around in the wind, as much. I'm go grab a picture.

Here is the ladder flag. It's not complex or impressive, but I do use it 24 hours a day and it holds up nicely. Nylon webbing is very easy to work with and you can make all kinds of cool stuff. I was considering making a soft ladder out of webbing actually. At some point, I'd like to make my own single point sling.
The black is a stretch band I was using to make a chest harness for a GoPro last year.

You Don't?
Just one more item for total self sufficiency. I haven't sewn for 5 decades, now with time on my hands why not.
Try getting a pair of pants hemmed. $13 per pair minimum, THAT'S IF they actually call you back. Then you hear umm i'm about 2 weeks out. Keeping in mind you left a message for them last week !

Good stuff, Irving! What kind of a machine do you use?
The pajamas are very cute.
I haven't taken photos of what I've sewn. Right now I'm working on stuff for DCC, so they are more costume-y clothes.
As far as clothing repair goes, it IS a bit of a different beast, but I would imagine it could be done. You've done YouTube, I'm sure. What are some of the other sites you've used for learning to sew?

Started by trying to make my own tac gear, back when it was expensive and choices were poor; not much of an issue now. Then I started doing some mends for the kids since they outgrow stuff, not worth buying new for 2 months of use. Now I will tackle a project when I have time, so not much. I did make a bag for 10 FAL mags, and a handgun sleeve, couple of gp bags, and some misc.
