My father passed in 2008. After I hounded Mom to make sure she had an updated will, living will, and medical power of attorney, she made me executor of her estate and gave my wife (a nurse) medical power of attorney along with a copy of her living will. Basically, she doesn't trust my shitbag brothers to make good decisions.
I don't have a clue what assets she has, nor do I substantially care, but she has never wanted for more than what she has and lives comfortably. I only wish she outlives me and the old bird just might. My 2 brothers, who live near her, will possibly get the bulk of it if there's anything left, and that's OK because they see her frequently and I don't, and frankly I don't need it. My middle brother bought her house on a land contract and it sounded like he rarely paid the bill and she just signed the place over to him after she sold her other (inherited) house and got remarried to her new (85 year old) Beau in 2015. The youngest brother has done time for something like his 7th DUI, so he would probably just drink and smoke it all. I saw him after he got out last time (in 2016) and he hadn't really straightened up. 53 years old and he's still a fuck up. She trusts me to properly execute her last wishes, can't say much about what the brothers might do. I don't have a copy of her will, but simply the contact info for the attorney/firm where it is held in trust.
