Long ass day. Got the bed back off around noon and spent about 7 hours getting all the wiring for taillights cleaned up (shoddy job from builder) and wiring in the 7 pin/ flat 4, used a bus bar to keep everything clean and organized, and had to modify the rear drop cover plate for the three holes I had to drill through it for the tow, hitch lights, and the actual chassis to taillight plug. Everything has plug connectors in case I ever have to remove the bed in the future. It takes a lot of time to plan and get lengths correct, heat shrink butt connectors on everything, doing good splices, and then finally sealing up the cover plate.

Have to go back tomorrow to wire up the deck lights and get the upper light feeds ran so I can get the bed off the rack and back on the truck before the new week begins. I figure about three more hours and I can bolt it back down again.

I discovered a mistake today that was totally on me. Don't like to admit it, but I was in such a hurry to get the wheels bolted up a month back or so....I managed to not tighten the nuts on the left front wheel. Since this isn't road worthy yet, I only put four on each wheel and I plan to get new lug nuts anyway. The wheel isn't trashed, but it's definitely the spare tire now, it hogged out the holes a little and gouged up the inside lip above the bead... the studs were unaffected but needed chased.

I feel pretty shitty about it. It's human nature to flame up folks for doing stupid stuff, ….it's my turn in the barrel on that deal. Pay attention, dumbass.

I have no idea why that stuck with me, but it's funny.

Last time I did the brakes on the wife's car, I pulled out of the drive for the road test and pulled right back in (clunks heard.)

Sure enough, caliper bolts on one side were only finger tight. Doh!
