    I'm a big fan of the show, and I don't have a solid answer on that for you. My take is that if you get bitten, that's the catalyst that sets the infection in motion...and you become Zombie.

    I dunno.

    Sepsis. The blood, saliva, etc from the zombies is decomposing and full of bacteria, and would be a very imminent threat to the living's health.
