    BC, I bought the 700 sps about 4 years ago for about $475. I too was going the cheap route. I put the BC A2 stock on, added a nice scope base, decent rings, and a $300 scope. The rifle is very accurate and I've shot 0.5 MOA groups quite a few times at 100 and 200 yards. I'm no pro marksman either... It has served me very well. I love the gun..

    That said, I would have saved for the 5R if I had the sense that Mr Belly has... It's a keeper and I wish I would have just pulled the trigger for the upgrade back then. I wouldn't even know the difference between the extra $500 now. Take Belly's word and don't buy the SPS if you can eat pbj for a while.
