That's why I asked. I want to start testing loads for my rifle so I can start reloading at that charge to have ammo on hand, but wasn't sure which is the smarter way to go about picking that load.

Shoot multiple rounds at each charge, but not all of a particular charge in a string. Keep the same POA for all shots. 200-300 is where you'll start to see some decent spreading, yet still be able to keep it on the broad side of a barn. The farther the better.

the hard part with this testing is spotting which hit comes from which load. The basic thought says that the higher the charge, the higher the impact on the target. That's difficult to do if you've got an SD of 40 and an ES of 70.

For what I'm trying to get done, I'm not concerned with 100 yard shots. I want to know how this ammo/gun combo does at distance.

Shoot one round from each charge weight, then repeat. Take note of where every round hit before you take the next shot.
Just doing what I can to stay on this side of the dirt.

What you described in the first 2 paragraphs was the Ladder test, but with more than 1 shot per charge, right? The OCW test is shooting 3 rounds (1 of bullet A at target 1, 1 of bullet B at target 2, 1 of bullet C at target 3, etc) at their own target and comparing the clusters of groupings.

I got my rifle zeroed today, so the next time I'm able to go (and spend more than at most an hour like today), I'll take my reloads and do the OCW test at 100yds, then when I find the nodes and develop more refined, will move that out to 200yds.

Oh, and any of you guys ever bake brownie cookies?

Wait a minute... I need to stop right there after "Any of you guys ever bake..."

The recipe was on a box of Ghiradelli mix, my wife decided she only wanted to wait 10min for brownie cookies instead of 45min for the tray. They came out tasting exactly like brownies, except that every brownie cookie was an edge piece. Perfectly crispy, yet still with a gooey center. Delicious!!

All that algebra is too much for my mind....

but yeah, I need to get shooting also. Shitty weather and stuff....Friday afternoons and weekends IS my window. I'm also gonna be down my AR for a bit, getting it more gooder.
