50-50 as of today. You can always look up openings for the .mil / transfer stations. or what ever the correct name is. We use to be able to look at available duty stations, to barter with someone, looking to get back to state or country X.Okay, so I do have some idea, but I have no idea what the odds are.

Yeah, it doesn't quite work that way, but I'm doing everything I can do set up our family for the best. Living in LA for a few years for an awesome job would be survivable (unless the country falls apart or something ridiculous happens in that time) but it would pretty much guarantee that I could come back here.

LA is one of the many armpits of the country, Having to justify why you need a CCW, not counting most of the toys, you may or may not own, are illegal in CA.
As for commuting to work, what's that, it only took you 3 hrs to drive 20 miles

These F'ing roofing contractors soliciting my home are pushing it....mouthy fricken kids. "Don't worry sir, I wasn't going into your garage." I hope you don't either. These guys fail to understand that my driveway IS my property, not just the home.
