Ugh, I'm on my way to Estes Park. Hope it's not snowing up there too bad.

My bathroom. I tried to cut the trim, then paint it, then install it. Turns out it fits like shit that way. On normal trim that might have worked, but I had to glue a 1/4" shim on the back of all my trim in order to compensate for the difference between the thickness of old drywall and old steel door frames, vs. modern drywall with old steel doorframes. Stupid old house.

When you're trying to make things right, and have it look good, it can be a challenge.

Even in frustration, it's better to not hack stuff together....you will feel better about any project if you make it right. You've done some cool stuff, Irving.

Fill the visible gaps in with paintable silicone, call it good. We've redone 3 houses, this one was one built in 1904. After 3 homes and seeing what "professional contractors" do compared to what we call acceptable. Gonna say home owners are more concerned about getting the job "Perfect" than the contractor. Creating a frustrating environment at home when trying to get the job done.

Combined with there rarely if ever a home being built in square, newer homes worse due to laminates, green wood etc. If your home has an addition, you run in to original lath & plaster on real 2x4's, butting in to sheetrock on 1 13/16 x 3 and who knows what. Giving you a room that looks like this \_ instead of L
