Unless your parents pass young or are 40 years your senior then you will probably be in your late fifties or early sixties when you inherit. If one of them survives into mid nineties the risk of that person out living you comes into play.

Kind of you to write. Thanks. On the upside, now you have a friend in Tennessee if you find yourself there.

Not to mention medical bills eating up that inheritance. Granted it's probably protected, but if you don't expect your parents to for within 20 years, then you could easily have that amount of money set aside by yourself. Enough talking about your parents though.

I liked that there was a lot of appreciation shown for our veterans today, that's cool.

Oh Gosh, i remember my first VA loan, back when interest rates were in the teens. Thanks to the VA, an easy $5k started the dream. Now we're hoping to find a place under $200k

Seriously, that's your plan? Kinda morbid dontcha think?
I am working hard, putting money away. Paying off debt. Still going to go back to school in the next few years and further my education into the practice of law.

Dont take my post so literal. I didnt expand on it in exact detail.

I'm not just sitting around waiting on them to die just so I can buy a cabin. But with their health issues, I dont expect either to live beyond their 70's (next 10-15 years is my guess).

But when they do, I know what I want to do with the money. That's all.

    I know right?

Now I'm kicking myself for waiting 6 months before actually doing a refi I decided I was going to and cost me like .1% more. LOL

Chainsaws are too taboo to loan out here on COAR huh bob

Some people wait for parents to die and others spend (& sell) nearly everything they have in order too make sure they recieve the care they need, to each thier own.

I mostly borrowed trash cans. Let's see if I can post a photo while using my phone.
