I confirmed that I met two other members from here yesterday. I enjoy putting faces to names. Might be a third that if he's available ever, Id lovelovelove to train with.
So I mentioned it to him & he seemed amiable to the idea. Maybe I'll finally get to take a few private lessons this summer instead of going to 'camp'. Prefer it that way too.
I do know it's hard to make time to teach just one person & really is more of a favor to me than anything. I love shooting & its all I want to do, but technically I'm just a hobbyist so understandably not a priority.

Part of why I love going to matches.
Only 15 -20 bucks & I get a custom training course, help setting up & breaking down, the facility @ which to use it & then I get shown firsthand different methods to approach all the various situations by nice & skilled people. Plus I get to see everyone's gear, in use. Freakin bargain & I dont understand why some folks don't view it that way.

The neighbor has a Silver Maple. Mine is an elm.
Yes. I don't think you're on Instagram, but his Insta posts make you want to go out and train.
I think many people are self conscious and feel like everyone will be watching and judging them when they aren't great, forgetting that everyone started somewhere. Plus matches can be intimidating and while you'd think that "gun people" would be tough and less easy to intimidate, that's not the case.

The Hornady seemed to work out well. It was a bit breezy yesterday, was enough that if it wasnt moving your round, it was still likely moving you.
... so unfortunately I can't confirm if my rifle/ammo/zero was dialed in as much as I'd hoped. I think I'm going to use Hornady again for next months match too.

You're either in the "new shooter who is way over thinking everything" stage, or the "serious long distance shooter who measures every variable" stage and I don't shoot enough rifle to tell which.
If you're shooting a Texas Star at 100 yards in under 10 shots then chances are good that you're stuff is dialed in just fine.

I dislike being watched & am self conscious sometimes too & it doesnt matter because I would rather be better. Why I started recording my match stages here & there. I have some from yesterday & still waiting to get the rimfire match vids from Friday. I can't wait to see those!
Though I'm not sure I'm comfortable posting my video here, but not for the reasons you might first think.
