Close buffalobo, I re-engineered and built a second version of an infrared instrument that attaches to the back end of a telescope via fiber optics (technically, the 4,000-lb instrument was installed in the basement and connects to the telescope via a 35-m length of 300 fiber optics, each which get their own target).

I'm re-orienting my career towards the engineering, specifically R&D, hence the grad school.

BC that is indeed nice. Kids and spine and grad school eqyals no sleep.
So are you now our resident telescope expert?

Definitely not an expert by any means, but I've worked on at least half a dozen telescopes measuring 1-m up to 3.5-m.

Now I pretty much just design and build instruments for the telescopes. I much prefer the designing/building aspect of astronomy than the data-reduction aspect.

Yey, got the noped started. Not a spelling error, it has no pedals therefore noped.
I think the 90 deg turn on the coil wire was causing problems, and also the float got stuck. Pulled elbow and did a little dielectic grease. Pulled carb and found nothing there, so maybe a small piece of dirt from the tank. Put it together, did a running start and it fired up and ran. Will need more tuning but at least I dont have to hunt down exotic CDI parts.
Next will be clean the tank, get reserve setting wirking, then clean and get oul injection fixed, oh and need an air filter sponge.
I might actually keep this thing, or maybe not...

All the differential components have been media blasted and painted awaiting the return of the diffs from the rebuild shop. The nerf bars are still at powder coating, and tomorrow I'll get the t-case out and blasted before it gets rebuilt next week.

I had some delay when the transmission in the ambulance blew up last weekend, but it got reinstalled today and it works and runs better than before, so that's good.

Awsome. I want to add raspi control and remote viewing to my cheap meade telescope. It's always way too cold outside when the sky is clear in winter.
It has the meade go to mechanism, just need to figure out the protocol to comand it, learn programming, and get stellaris running on the pie or the remote pc. You know easy stuff.

Wasn't that you that posted the video cutting out the attic for the fan, and you stuck your head out when you shoved the debris down?

I remember that being particularly hilarious.
