I think I know where I stand on the advice thing.

    It's cool though.

I make an absolutely amazing pecan pie.

Miss making pumpkin pie as Festal's farm is long gone. Not worth making if I don't have proper pumpkin. Libbys bought them out & that libbys squash they call pumpkin is rancid filth I wouldn't feed to livestock.

Aren't there other places to get pumpkins? Does it take a certain kind to make a good pie? I'm not a fan of pumpkin pie (but I love me some pecan!)

Speaking of pumpkins, I've already given three pumpkins to my neighbors. One the dog knocked off the vine. The other two are full orange and it seems that once they turn orange, they stop growing. I'm expecting at least 10 basket ball or larger pumpkins this year. I'm excited.

I love pecan pie, but I find it so rich I have trouble finishing a slice. Apple is my favorite pie.

Have you tried it on the rocks, or just cutting it with water?

That's what I do with flavored whiskey.

I carved & wore a pumpkin on my head one Halloween. It was more comfortable than I thought it would be. Maybe you've already grown your costume.

Festal farm grew a particular pumpkin ideal for pies which yielded about 2/3 per acre less than what Libbys grows & calls pumpkin. Had I known, I would have paid double for each can (which was already quite expensive) if it would have kept the farm going. Best part was you could preorder your pumpkin & it was shipped directly to you. When they were sold out that was it until next year.

Might be you don't like squash pie as you've probably never had real pumpkin pie with the proper kind of pumpkin. Exactly why I don't bother making it now.

I went to a tasting/class at Laws Whiskey House. Didn’t know what I didn’t know, and was impressed. Still more of a tequila fan, but bourbon is starting to carve a spot. And they’re going to start distilling an agave based spirit (can’t call it “Tequila” if not from Jalisco, or at least Mexico - not sure), but I’m looking forward to it. In unrelated news, my quads are sore. Pathetic really. I spent about 30 minutes hanging / squatting on the outflow grate at Sloan’s Lake yesterday to rescue a couple of ducklings that were swept inside. All in all, cool that babies are back with mama-duck, but I’m embarrassed at the mild exertion that made me feel so sore. The new me ain’t what the old me was. Or the old me ain’t what the young me was. Either way, meh.
